All Points In-Between Just J.

J. Knutson-acoustic guitar, voice
(with occasional Celtic bouzouki )

In March 2020, the impact of the Covid pandemic was taking full effect.
Isolation was predominant in our societies, and it rendered a rather dystopian vision of the future.
A vision that up until the pandemic we had only imagined or crafted for theatrical performance

Many artists, be it visual, literal or musical, took refuge in this prescribed solace.
I expect we’ll see and hear the continued emergence of those artist’s works over the next few years.

I decided at that time to use the tools I had to work on 3 projects.

The first, to complete the writing for the Early Spirit album, “The Hollow Tree.”
Initial recordings for that album were done prior to the Covid outbreak, but bringing the songs on that album to their thematic conclusion would be possible with the time at hand.
That album was completed and released in late 2021.

The second project  “The Lightning Chain” is a song cycle series of compositions meant to reflect the present times in which we live.
The theme of each song, whether written recently or it’s nucleus surfacing from years ago, came together congruently during the recording of “The Lightning Chain” in 2021, 22, and 23 in my home studio the IsoNest.

The third project was “Enter The Woods”
A collective of songs that I have written over the course of my career. (with the exception and inclusion of Richard Thompson’s “Ring Some Changes”, one of the first songs Spirit of the West performed together)

These tunes were released on various projects over the years, but originally conceived as just guitar and voice.
They were later arranged and elaborated on in subsequent recordings.
All the songs on Enter The Woods were recorded in one evening, “live off the floor” at The IsoNest, March 1, 2023, to reflect their original form at conception.

There’s really no method to the madness. There’s no formula to the muse. It’s all about following one’s heart, letting it lead you and trusting that your path is the right one.
It is my pleasure to be able to let these projects see the light of day and the moonlight of evening.
Now it’s time for me to see some light and get outta the basement.

“All Points In-Between” is the tour.
A retrospective collective of
the songs, the stories and the journey from Spirit of The West to Early Spirit, ….and all points in between.
Can’t wait to share it with you.
Lotsa luv, J.
